My dad is the one who always gets the tree ready and turns on the lights so I can&#39;t come downstairs either until they&#39;re ready. Not that I don&#39;t, of course, but I would LOVE, with capital letters.<br /><br />When I was a kid, it was pretty simple. My parents aren&#39;t Christian, so church is out. We would have a nice family dinner, maybe play a game or watch a movie, OF COURSE listen to Christmas music play non-stop, and then we would open presents. My dad said Christmas looks nicer at night, because of all the Christmas lights. On Christmas morning, we would open Santas presents, and then we would have breakfast. <br /><br />After we stopped believing in Santa, it got tricky. I started going to church service - alone. We stopped having a traditional time to do presents. Sometimes we do some at night and some in the morning. Other times we do it just at night, or just in the morning. I can&#39;t even remember what we did last year... It&#39;s all a blur because it&#39;s never consistent. <br /><br />This year, Erik and I are going to his sister&#39;s for Christmas Eve dinner and will exchange a gift with her. Then on Christmas morning, we&#39;ll open presents at my place - just the two of us! My mom comes on Dec. 26 to do more Christmas stuff.
