Hello, My Name Is Mrs. John Mayer

I've loved John Mayer for as long as I can remember.

After my boy band phase of my early teens, John Mayer was probably the first legitimate artist I liked.

I've probably seen John (yes, we're on a first name basis) about 8 or 9 times. I've seen him in Baltimore and in Philadelphia.

John Mayer's music just speaks to me. His lyrics have gotten me through tough times and I can listen to him over and over again without getting sick of his music. Your Body Is A Wonderland played a pretty prominent role in a poignant moment in my life. The song Dreaming With A Broken Heart got me through a tough time with The Ex freshman year of college. I'm Gonna Find Another You got me through the final breakup with The Ex.

On Tuesday, John Mayer's new (and wonderful) album Battle Studies came out. IT IS WONDERFUL. It's very calming and much less political than his last album (I wasn't a fan of the political stuff).

There's always one song on everyone of his albums that I become obsessed with almost immediately. I knew the second I heard the opening chords of the song Friends, Lovers Or Nothing that it was going to be "my song." It's gorgeous and I love the lyrics.

John is going on tour in the coming months and will be in Philadelphia in February...I definitely want to buy tickets. They have already gone on pre-sale, but I don't know if I can shell out that kind of money, so I'm waiting until Saturday when the regular sale begins. I might take my sister as a Christmas gift.

I think I'll probably always be a John Mayer fan. I'll be the 40 year old at the concert drinking a beer with my husband that I dragged with me.

Are there any artists that you absolutely LOVE and you can't imagine ever not being a fan of? Do you like John Mayer? What's your favorite song of his?

Is Christmas Here Too Early?

This has been a topic of debate among my friends and family and I lately.

Do you think Christmas comes too early every year?

Personally, I'm all about Christmas. As soon as the weather starts getting cold, I start dreaming of snickerdoodle cookies and cuddling up with a book by the fire.

Once Halloween ends, I am ALL about Christmas time. I love seeing decorations in stores, I love hearing Christmas music on the radio (In fact, I'm a bit angry because one of our radio stations hasn't started playing Christmas songs yet).

I can't wait to decorate my house and start shopping and making cookies. I can't wait to see my family and eat delicious meals.

Most people believe that Christmas shouldn't come until after Thanksgiving, but I think it can come as early as November 1. If looking forward to something makes you happy, then why shouldn't it come as early as someone wants it to?

November 1 usually excited me because we are fully into fall and Thanksgiving and Christmas are both near. I think the holiday bug bites everyone and people are just kinder and more thankful even if its just for those two months.

So..what do you think? Does Christmas come too early or could you start getting excited for Christmas at any time?

Home Video Hilarity

Oh man, recently my little sister Jamie has discovered our HOME VIDEOS.

I was born in the late 80's and my sister and brother were born in the early 90's and let me tell you; video cameras were ALL. THE. RAGE.

My parents videotaped our entire childhood. It's so funny because there are probably about 10 videos of just me when I was little and then about 6 of Jamie and then only 2 or 3 of Matthew, because I guess as time went on, the video camera wasn't as popular. However, most of my childhood is on camera.

I'm so glad my parents decided to tape me when I was growing up though because the memories are too precious and cute and I'm so glad I have the ability to go back and watch through them.

After spending hours last week (way too many late night hours when I should have been sleeping) cracking up in my sister's room over the ridiculousness of our early childhoods.

First of all, I have to say, I was VERY luck and also very spoiled. I'm so thankful for my parents and their hard work because I had a very good life. Christmas's were plentiful and all other holidays were paid lots of attention too. I participated in every activity possible at some point in my childhood: dance, singing, theater, soccer, softball, swimming, etc.

Secondly, my family was so dysfunctional and hilarious when we were little. Christmas's were the funnies to watch because we all wanted to tear into our gifts, but we had to take turns and then watch each other squeal and jump for joy at every last gift. One moment that stuck out was my sister pulling a pack of gum out of her pocket and squealing "GUMMM!!!!! I DIDN'T KNOW SANTA BROUGHT GUMMMM!" and being so excited about that tiny pack of gum. I'm glad to know that if we were spoiled, we at least we very thankful for everything we had.

I haven't gotten a chance to watch my very young years on tape yet, because I've been watching with my sister and I was about 8 (HELLO awkward stage) when she was around 3 which is what we've been viewing lately. Hopefully, over winter break I'll have time to break out some more videos to enjoy.

I wish I could share some of these hilarious videos (ugh, including the one my sister taped on her mac and kindly put on my Facebook wall of me singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at a talent show) but my computer isn't quite as advanced, so I'll leave you with two cute photos of when I was little.

Did your parents tape home videos as you were growing up? Have you watched any of them lately?

Fun-Filled Facebook Friendly Weekend

Did you like the alliteration in the title of this post?

This weekend was one of the most fun I've had in awhile. I forced my tired butt to get out of bed and get to campus to actually have some fun, and I'm so glad I did.

Friday- My little turned 21 yesterday, so she had a party at her apartment on campus. It was SO much fun and I'm so excited she is finally a member of the 21 club. While we were enjoying some cocktails at the party, I was being very careful to make sure that all of my photos were "facebook friendly" as I deemed it, since I've been cleaning out my Facebook profile lately.

Me and my little at her party!

Saturday- I rested during the day (because let's face it, I'm an old lady and a night out kills me) but then I went out with my family at night because it was my dad's birthday! First, we headed to my cousins house because he and his wife just had their first baby, Grace! She was born last week and she is soo tiny and beautiful. I loved holding her and smelling her cute baby skin.

Me and beautiful Grace

After seeing Grace, we went to Outback for dinner which is always yummy. My daddy enjoyed a relaxing birthday.

Daddy and his girls

Sunday-The PR club that I'm president of has been raising money for the Alzheimer's Memory Walk since the beginning of the school year and the day finally arrived. I was excited because my sorority usually does the AIDS walk but we didn't go because of weather this year. The walk today was at Citizen's Bank Park (where the Phillies play) which is always fun. The weather was absolutely beautiful (if not too hot, which is WEIRD for November!) and everyone had a great time. We also raised over $450 which is great!

Roma roommates at the Alzheimer's Walk!

This weekend reminded me about not letting school and other obligations get me down and just get out and have fun. I'm so glad I did and I hope I will continue to do this for the rest of my senior year!

What did you do this weekend?

I Wish Taylor Swift Was My BFF

It's true...I wish Taylor Swift was my BFF. I mean, I've loved her for awhile now, but lately she has BLOWN UP.

Her album got me through a difficult time last year. I could totally relate to most of the lyrics in her album and I loved that just listening to it, I felt like we could be friends. She seems so down to earth and just cool to be around. I hope she never changes because right now she is so humble and she really is a great role model for young girls.

I absolutely LOVED her on SNL last week...who knew she had a funny side too? I think her monologue was hilarious (especially her jabs at Joe Jonas and her wink and kissy face to Taylor Lautner).

Did anyone catch her at the CMA's two nights ago? I didn't watch it when it was on, but I found these two great clips of her. The first is of her accepting her three awards (watch til the very end..the last one is very cute!) and the second one is of her singing Forever and Always live.

I think my favorite song by her is Fearless. I really love all her songs, but this one definitely stands out.

Do you like Taylor Swift? What is your favorite song by her?

Thank You Veterans

I know Veterans Day was yesterday, but I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge all of the soldiers out there and all of their families.

I've been lucky not to have any one extremely close to me during my life time have to go to war, but I can't imagine how difficult it is for all those who have experienced it.

My grandfather and my uncle are veterans and my two cousins are currently serving our country.

I saw this video on Twitter and I knew I had to share it with you. This really touched my heart and made me bawl my eyes out, but it's extremely meaningful and I hope you will all take two minutes to watch it.

Do you have a family member or a close friend in the military? What has your experience been like?

THANK YOU TO ALL THE VETERANS AND PEOPLE CURRENTLY SERVING IN THE MILITARY!
